BSP drafts rules to address online gambling risks

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is drafting new regulations that will require financial institutions to implement safeguards on their digital platforms to shield consumers from risks linked to online gambling.
In a statement, the central bank said it has circulated a draft circular and is currently reviewing comments from stakeholders.
The proposed guidelines will apply to BSP-supervised institutions (BSIs), including banks and electronic money issuers, and may include controls such as limits to access or spending on gambling-related activities.
