The declared wealth of both President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte had steadily increased in the past three years since they assumed office, based on their statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs) from 2022 to 2024, copies of which were obtained by The STAR from the Office of the Ombudsman.

BBM declares P389 M net worth; Sara, P88 M

Marcos jointly declared with his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, a net worth of P389.357 million as of Dec. 31, 2024, higher by P60.127 million from their joint net worth of P329.229 million as June 30, 2022 when Marcos assumed the presidency. Net worth is computed by subtracting total liabilities from total assets.

Based on Marcos’ entry SALN filed with the ombudsman on July 26, 2022, he and his wife had P329.229 million in total assets as of June 30, 2022 composed of P50.265 million in real properties and P278.963 million in personal properties, which included cash on hand and in bank, money market investments, jewelry, motor vehicles and paintings. They declared no liabilities.

In six months, the Marcos spouses' net worth increased by P42.262 million or to P371.492 million as of Dec. 31, 2022, comprising P56.265 million in real properties and P315.226 million in personal properties.

The spouses' SALN for that year showed that the increase could be attributed to a newly built residential house in La Union worth P6 million and higher cash on hand and in bank amounting to P35 million as of end of 2022, from P23 million as of June 30, 2022, as well as money market investments of P219.342 million as of end of 2022 from P211 million as of June 30, 2022.
