ABS-CBN News Revisits the Philippines' Most Shocking Stories in New Digital Series

These are just some of the real-life events that stunned the nation—stories that once dominated headlines, triggered investigations and sparked public outcry. Now, these cases are being revisited in "Philippines' Most Shocking Stories," a new 10-part YouTube series by ABS-CBN News and ABS-CBN Studios.

The series, premiering this July 15 at 8 p.m. on the ABS-CBN News YouTube channel, retells these tragedies and true crime tales with fresh perspectives from journalists, exclusive footage and a storytelling format tailored for digital natives. New episodes will drop every Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Episode 1 reexamines the case of Catherine Camilon, the beauty queen and public school teacher whose disappearance in 2023 remains a mystery to this day.

In an exclusive virtual interview, ABS-CBN News chief Francis Toral told The STAR, "ABS-CBN News has been trying to come up with many innovations in this time where journalism and many newsrooms are grappling with the changes in consumer behavior.

"So what we thought of was to prepare and produce (something) that is interesting enough for all audiences to consume on digital platforms."

She said the show is more than a look-back on the most gripping news coverage. "We believe that 'Philippines' Most Shocking Stories' still has a place in the consciousness of people," she said. "We also want to help find the resolution to the cases that we will be featuring, and to remind viewers that these stories happened. As the headlines proceed and overtake them, these stories remain."
