Ceasefire a blessing, now focus on rehabilitation: MLA Uri

With the situation stabilizing along the Line of Control (LoC) following a recent ceasefire, MLA Uri, Dr. Sajad Shafi on Monday said that rebuilding homes for the displaced residents of the shelling-hit Uri is now the top priority.
Speaking to the reporters, NC MLA, as per the news agency stressed the need for urgent rehabilitation of those who lost their houses to cross-border shelling and announced that a formal demand for enhanced compensation has been submitted to authorities.
He said that he has requested the Chief Minister to consider compensation of Rs 10 lakh for fully damaged homes and Rs 5 lakh for those partially damaged, adding that those who have completely lost their homes will be temporarily accommodated in Panchayat Ghars and other available buildings.
