UP U-turn after backlash on Kanwar Yatra diktat

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav had urged the courts to take suo motu cognisance of the Muzaffarnagar police order calling it a "social crime." The SP chief had also urged the courts to "take appropriate punitive action." Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi said the order should be withdrawn as it may cause communal tension and there should not be any discrimination on the basis of religion or caste.
