Sterlite, GIC to establish platform for power projects

VEDANTA GROUP's Sterlite Power and an affiliate of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC signed definitive agreements on Wednesday to establish a new platform for developing and operating power transmission projects in India.

Under the agreement, Sterlite Power will hold a majority stake of 51%, with GIC owning the remaining 49%. "India's renewable energy vision necessitates investments in transmission infrastructure to unlock the full potential of its 500 GW renewable power target," said Pratik Agarwal, Managing Director of Sterlite Power.
