The VinFast electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant at SIPCOT industrial park in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi, inaugurated by Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday, is its first facility being operationalised outside its home country, Vietnam.
Spread over 400 acres, the plant is equipped with a state-of-the-art production unit with world-class standards featuring advanced automation and cutting-edge technologies. Having a capacity to manufacture 50,000 cars a year, VinFast Tamil Nadu will focus on assembling two premium electric SUV models, VF6 and VF7.
