THE Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is considering barring lone women travellers from accompanying groups (jathas) to Pakistan, after a woman devotee Sarbjit Kaur (48) went missing in the neighbouring country recently.
Kaur, who was part of a pilgrimage group (Jatha) for Guru Nanak Dev’s 556th birth anniversary, reportedly embraced Islam, changed her name to Noor Hussain before marrying one Nasir Hussain of Sheikhupura in Pakistan. She has a criminal history with three cheating and fraud cases registered against her in Punjab.
