WITH the increasing number of tourists in Uttarakhand, the nearly-completed Dehradun-Delhi Expressway showcases a pioneering approach to balancing infrastructure development with wildlife conservation. It includes a 14-km underpass that allows safe and seamless movement for humans and wildlife alike.

According to sources at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), camera traps installed in the underpass's peripheral area have captured remarkable images of elephants, deer, and other wildlife navigating the underpass.
