Company allows protesting workers to return to work without an undertaking

- NIRUPAMA VISWANATHAN @ Chennai

THE CITU-backed Samsung India Workers Union's (SIWU) month-long protest involving hundreds of workers at the Samsung India's manufacturing unit at Sriperumbudur ended on Friday.

While the CITU had earlier insisted on revoking the suspension of 23 workers by the Samsung management to call off the strike, sources said they have now agreed to a fair internal inquiry against these workers by the company. Samsung has also agreed to allow other protesting employees to return to work.
