THE Madras High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to alleged drug smuggling kingpin and expelled DMK functionary Jaffer Sadiq and his brother Mohammed Saleem in money laundering cases registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The cases stem from predicate offences registered by the Customs department and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). With this, decks have been cleared for Sadiq's release from prison, as he has already secured bail in two drug cases, his lawyers said.
