Boy falls into well with tractor, body retrieved after 9-hr-long search

THE body of a 7-year-old boy who fell into a well along with a tractor near Rishivandhiyam in Kallakurichi was retrieved after a rescue operation spanning over nine hours on Sunday.

According to the police, A Pascall (55) of Maiyanoor near Vanapuram owns farmland with an open well. A few days ago, the submersible electric motor in the well stopped working. On Sunday evening, Pascall tried to get the motor removed using a tractor, owned by Bhaskar. The tractor was brought to the field by M John Inbaraj (28), a relative of Bhaskar, who parked it near the well without switching off the engine.
