TN Agri Varsity Associate Professors Stage Sit-In Against Promotion Norms

NEARLY 100 associate professors of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) staged a sit-in protest in front of the Vice-Chancellor's office on Thursday, condemning the denial of promotion to professor under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS).
According to an associate professor, who did not wish to be named, TNAU in October 2022 mandated that teaching faculty must publish one paper a year in a NAAS-listed journal to be eligible for promotion. This norm, however, was enforced only last year, while 140 associate professors had already been promoted without it.
