Sterlite shut, but different rule applied for NLC: Anbumani

PATTALI Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday questioned why Sterlite and NLC India Limited (NLCIL) are being judged using different standards, demanding the immediate closure of NLCIL operations in Cuddalore district.

In a statement, Anbumani said, "In Cuddalore district, an inspection conducted by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has revealed that groundwater and waterbodies near NLC India's coal mines and power plants contain mercury levels up to 115 times higher than permissible limits."
