Polavaram Diversion Not in Approved DPR: GRMB

There is no apportionment of Godavari River water allocated to AP

BOTH the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) and Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) raised objections to the Andhra Pradesh government's proposed Polavaram-Banakacherla.

The GRMB, quoting the clauses of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, noted that "There is no apportionment of Godavari River water allocated to erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and between the successor states by any Tribunal nor any mutual agreement between them. The CWC may take note of this".

Thus, the GRMB indirectly suggested either a new Tribunal for Godavari or mutual agreement for water sharing between the successor states of AP and Telangana.
