MHA Mulls Review Plea as Verdict Sets Timeline for Prez

In view of certain ‘infirmities’ in the points of law with regard to the April 8 Supreme Court verdict in the Tamil Nadu government v Governor R N Ravi case, mandating a timeline for Governors and the President in matters of assent and recommendations to bills, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is preparing to file a review petition to get them corrected, officials said on Sunday.
Officials said the move is being contemplated owing to the fact that the top court order also fixed a timeline of three months for the President to take decisions with regard to bills referred to the Rashtrapati Bhawan by Governors. In matters of reference, the MHA is the nodal authority that processes and conveys the decisions to the state, they added.
