WHEN the Government of Puducherry took office four and a half years ago, it set out with a clear mission, to build a progressive, inclusive, and self-reliant union territory that mirrors the national vision of Viksit Bharat, a fully developed India.

Today, the results are visible across sectors, in empowered communities, thriving industries, and modern infrastructure. Puducherry stands as a shining example of cooperative federalism and people-centric governance, where growth is balanced by compassion.
"With the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have been able to turn ideas into impact and promises into programmes," Chief Minister N Rangasamy has often emphasised, acknowledging the synergy between the Central and Union Territory Governments that has driven this transformation.
Lt Governor K Kailashnathan said, "Since my association with Puducherry from August 2024, it has been a period of intensified activities for targeted development on various fronts." He added that the government's action plans are centred on one key objective, providing substantial and gainful employment opportunities for the skilled, competent, and youthful human resource of Puducherry.
Economic revival after years of stagnation
The numbers tell a story of resilience. In the last four years, Puducherry's economic growth rate rose from -2.21% in 2020-21 to 8.81% in 2024-25, marking a remarkable turnaround under the Rangasamy government.
Revenue resources grew by 46.6%, from ₹8,418.96 crore in 2020-21 to ₹12,342.51 crore in 2024-25. The per capita income increased to ₹3,02,680, while unemployment dropped from 6.7% to 4.3%, among the sharpest improvements in the region.
Puducherry now ranks second nationally in the India Index on Sustainable Development Goals, reaffirming its balanced approach to economic growth and social welfare.
