Thrithala residents' 40-year tech institute dream comes to fruition

A 40-YEAR demand for a technical education institute by the residents of Thrithala was finally fulfilled with the inauguration of Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Nagalassery on Saturday.

LSG Minister M B Rajesh inaugurated the event at a specially prepared stage at the temporary building of the water resource office in Velliyankallu, Nagalassery. Thrithala block panchayat president V P Rajee-na presided over the function.

Since the 1980s, the residents of Thrithala have been demanding an ITI or a technical education institute. Responding to persistent public pressure and recognising the community's desire for such an institution, the Nagalassery grama panchayat allocated two acres of land for the project. However, the proposal faced prolonged delays due to inadequate follow-up and a lack of decisive action.
