Telcos expected to increase tariffs by 10-20% by this year-end, says report

April 18, 2025

INDIAN telecom service providers are expected to raise mobile tariffs by 10-20% by the end of this year, as per a report by brokerage firm Bernstein.

- RAKESH KUMAR @New Delhi

The anticipated tariff hike is driven by telcos' focus on monetisation amid mounting capital needs and regulatory tailwinds. The brokerage firm said that Indian telecom tariffs are relatively low compared to other global markets, which could support potential tariff hikes.

It expects tariffs to continue rising over the medium term, reaching the telecom service providers' Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) to ₹300 by FY27.
