Gujarat ₹260 cr bill: ₹62 cr on upkeep, ₹198 cr on new plane

BY its admission, the Gujarat government has spent nearly ₹260 crore on aircraft purchase and maintenance, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious seaplane project remains grounded despite heavy investment.
Grilled by Congress MLAs in the state Assembly on Friday, the government revealed it bought a new aircraft for ₹197.90 crore in 2019 and has spent ₹61.97 crore on fuel, parking, rent, and pilot and staff salaries in the last two years.
The overheads stood at ₹23.38 crore between February 2023 and January 2024, soaring to ₹38.58 crore the following year.
