THE Assam government has achieved significant success in protecting the one-horned rhinos—the pride of the state—from poachers since the launch of 'Operation Falcon', an effort of the state Police and the forest department last year.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday shared an official video of the operation on X. The video highlights that coordination and spirit of the personnel led to the arrest of 42 poachers — 18 in Biswanath, eight in Darrang, six in Nagaon, five in Karbi Anglong, two in Sonitpur and one each in Udalguri, Dibrugarh and Cachar districts.
