THE Supreme Court on Friday granted an additional four weeks to the Union government to file its detailed response on a batch of pleas seeking directions to the Centre to restore the statehood of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, requested the top court for more time to file the reply in the case. A bench of Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran granted four weeks.
