Jackfruit needs more area for cultivation in S'mogga district

Though the jackfruit being one of the major horticulture crops in the district, it is yet to find a proper place in terms of total area of cultivation, the crop yield and its byproducts, besides there is a big scope for its pulp production.
Talking to The New Indian Express, Prof Nagarajappa Adivappar, horticulturist of Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agriculture and Horticulture Sciences said the jackfruit yield of Shivamogga is one of the major horticulture crop yields in the state. It is cultivated in major quantity in Sagar, Hosanagar and Tirthahalli taluks in the district.
