IN a joint operation by the UP Special Task Force (STF) and Punjab police, an activist of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), who was planning to trigger a blast in the recently concluded Maha Kumbh, was arrested in Kaushambi, a district adjacent to Prayagraj, early on Thursday.
UP DGP Prashant Kumar said the arrested BKI terrorist Lajar Masih, a resident of Kurlian village in Amritsar, had links with Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, and planned to flee to Portugal after carrying out a blast in Maha Kumbh.
"Masih, who was arrested in an operation at 3:20 am on Thursday, used to get hand grenades from BKI," he told the media.
Prior to the inauguration of Maha Kumbh, US-based Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun had threatened to carry out blasts during the congregation.
