Yaduveer seeks report, condemns felling of trees

Talks on to form panel to take up tree surveys in city, ask people to keep vigil on green cover

IN order to condemn the Mysuru City Corporation and Forest Department's action of chopping more than 40 trees on Hyder Ali Road in the city recently, environment activists and members of citizen forums under the banner Action Committee for Environmental Protection have decided to hold a silent protest at the site where the trees were cut down by wearing black bands, lighting candles and paying heartfelt tribute to the trees on April 18.

Sharing the details of the protest with the reporters here on Wednesday, committee head Parashuramegowda said through the candlelight protest, they plan to appeal to the citizens to keep a vigil on the green cover of Mysuru and prevent a repeat of such unilateral actions by the authorities.
