Sainath questions absence of voices to address nation's pressing issues

RENOWNED journalist P Sainath questioned the absence of voices addressing the nation's pressing issues, including the farmers' protests at Delhi borders, Covid-19 deaths, and migrant crises.
Speaking at the 6th edition of the Mysuru Literary Festival organised by the Mysuru Literary Association at the Maharaja's College Centenary Hall here on Sunday, he pointed out the discrepancies in Covid-19 deaths in the country.
“While the World Health Organisation estimated 47 lakh deaths due to Covid-19 between March 2020 and January 2022, the Global Developmental Council put the number at 49 lakh. However, the Central government claims only 4.86 lakh deaths. The truth is being concealed,” he said.
