Now, water bill scam rocks Mysuru, ₹1.25 cr siphoned off by VVWW staff

IN yet another corruption scandal, the Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW), the drinking water supply wing of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), has been implicated in a ₹1.25 crore scam involving water bill payments.
During a review meeting on outstanding water bill collections, MCC commissioner Ashaad-Ur-Rahman Shariff uncovered widespread misappropriation by VVWW staff.
As many as 18 metre readers and four water inspectors, aided by a private software technician, were found guilty of pocketing consumer payments over a span of 19 months, revealed sources.
