TENSIONS escalated in Chooralmala in Kerala's Wayanad district on Sunday after police intervened in a protest led by landslide survivors.
The protesters, part of the Janashabdam collective, had planned to construct huts in a symbolic demonstration against the slow pace of rehabilitation and the lack of government action. As they gathered near the Bailey Bridge, the police efforts to halt their protest sparked a scuffle, with demonstrators and officers engaging in a tense altercation.
The protest aimed to highlight the ongoing frustration among the displaced families, who accuse the authorities of neglecting their needs.
