THE 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, scheduled to take place in Mandya from December 20, has found a fitting president in Nadoja Dr Go Ru Channabasappa, a literary luminary whose inspiring journey from rural hardships to national recognition is nothing short of being a remarkable one.

Speaking at the 'Sharana Darshana' book release and felicitation ceremony held at Navajyoti Auditorium here on Wednesday, Dr Channabasappa expressed his deep gratitude and disbelief at being chosen as the president of the prestigious Sammelana.

"I was a simple villager, deprived of higher education, sleeping on torn mats and half-fed, but today I stand here as the president of the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. It is a privilege I never dared to dream of," he said overwhelmed by the honour. The event, organised by the Sharana Sahitya Parishat, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kadali Mahila Vedike, and Kannada Sahitya Kala Koota, witnessed the presence of eminent personalities, including Suttur seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, who released the book.
