HC raps MUDA, orders it to hand over allotted site to Army officer

EXPRESSING displeasure over the conduct of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the Karnataka High Court directed it to execute a sale deed of a 60x40 sqft site allotted in favour of a 70-year-old ex-serviceman, which was cancelled on the pretext of non-payment of an alleged deficit amount of Rs 21,930, although he paid the allotted amount, or an alternative site of equal dimension and value.

A division bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice G Basavaraja passed the order while allowing the petition filed by Lt Gen BNBM Prasad (Retd), a resident of Bengaluru who is a former Director General of Armed Forces Hospital Services. Dr Prasad has served Field Marshal Manekshaw, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, among others. After retiring from service, Dr Prasad has been serving as professor, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
