Guest lecturers seek govt intervention to resolve appointment crisis

The Karnataka State Coordination Committee of Guest Lecturers staged a protest in front of the DC's office on Monday and urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take immediate steps to resolve the ongoing crisis over appointments for the 2025-26 academic year in government first-grade colleges.
The agitators submitted a memorandum through the Mysuru district administration, highlighting that more than 11,000 guest lecturers have been serving across 432 government first-grade colleges for the past decade and more.
Of them, 5,623 are UGC-qualified, while 5,353 are non-UGC qualified.
