As the public spat between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)—key players of opposition INDIA bloc—intensifies in the run-up to the Delhi assembly elections, the internal rift within the coalition appears to be deepening.
Knives were out on Thursday after National Conference (NC) chief and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah suggested that the INDIA bloc be disbanded if its purpose was limited to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His remarks came after other INDIA bloc partners—the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samajwadi party (SP), Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT)—extended support for AAP, which is seeking a third consecutive term in Delhi.
