AI Traffic Cameras Cause Chaos Among Innocent Drivers

IMAGINE being fined for a traffic violation you never committed. This is exactly what is happening in Mysuru city and district to several motorists, where AI-enabled traffic cameras have started wrongly penalizing a few law-abiding citizens due to technical glitches and recognition errors.

In an attempt to bring order to the city's roads, AI-based surveillance cameras were installed at major junctions to monitor and automatically fine violators. These smart systems capture violations such as riding without a helmet, triple riding, signal jumping, and more.

The violation details, along with images, are then sent via SMS to the registered vehicle owner's mobile number or a notice to the registered address. However, many recipients of such messages are shocked to learn that the violations weren't committed by them.
