MCC has granted licences to 3,500 fast food outlets, but around 20,000 unauthorised stalls are operating in city

MYSURU is witnessing an unchecked surge in fast food outlets across its streets and neighbourhoods. This rapid expansion has raised concerns about food quality and hygiene, leaving the public and causing concern among the hoteliers as well.

Fast food stalls have sprung up at almost every major junction and roadside in the city, including ring road areas, serving snacks, meals and chaats from morning to late at night. Concerns over food quality, cleanliness and adherence to safety regulations are growing. Public, including hoteliers, are demanding strict action against unhygienic and unauthorised food outlets, with calls for using the designated food vending zones for fast food businesses.
