THE Centre on Thursday contended before the Karnataka High Court that any entity, be it X Corp or any other, has to be bound by all laws of the country.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made this submission after senior counsel KG Raghavan argued on behalf of X Corp before Justice M Nagaprasanna, during the hearing of X Corp's petition. X Corp filed the petition before the high court with a prayer to issue a writ declaring Section 79(3)(b) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, does not confer the authority to issue information blocking orders under the IT Act, and also to declare that such orders can only be issued under Section 69A of the IT Act, read with the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information by Public)
