State to Set Up Panel to Examine 'Jamma Bane' Land Controversy

IN response to objections raised by Kodagu MLAs AS Ponnanna and Dr. Manthar Gowda concerning the amendment bill introduced in the assembly over the Jamma Bane matter, Assembly Speaker UT Khader has sanctioned formation of an assembly selection committee.

IN response to objections raised by Kodagu MLAs AS Ponnanna and Dr. Manthar Gowda concerning the amendment bill introduced in the assembly over the Jamma Bane matter, Assembly Speaker UT Khader has sanctioned formation of an assembly selection committee. This committee will peruse the amendment and present its findings to the state.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil, on Thursday, introduced the bill pertaining to the Jamma Bane land tenure system in the assembly. He conveyed that farmers are encountering challenges due to a disparate land revenue system in Kodagu district compared to other districts, and insisted that the issue will be addressed in line with the perspectives of Kodagu MLAs.
