Heavy vehicles banned on Balebara Ghat due to landslide risk

Following a recent landslide in the Balebara (Hulikal) Ghat stretch—and with further risks anticipated—the Shivamogga district administration has prohibited heavy vehicles on State Highway-52 (connecting Shivamogga and Udupi) effective August 6.
The decision was taken following a request by the Udupi DC who cited the urgent need to restrict heavy vehicle movement for public safety. On this ghat stretch, cracks and landslides have already been observed.
