Ex-UGC chief among 36 named in medical education graft FIR

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in a case of alleged irregularities and corruption in inspections and regulatory processes of medical colleges across the country, officials said on Friday.
The FIR names 36 people as accused, including DP Singh, Chancellor of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and eight officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, they said.
Singh was the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) from 2018 to 2021. Others under scrutiny are officials of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and representatives of private medical colleges in various parts of the country, they added.
