Coastal, Malnad incorrectly classified as 'plain areas' under PMGSY-IV: Chowta

DAKSHINA Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta has described Mangaluru's ranking as the safest city in India and 49th globally in the latest 'Numbeo Safety Index' as a moment of immense pride-not just for the coastal region, but also as a reflection of the city's growing prestige and significance on the global stage.

The Numbeo report, issued by one of the world's largest global data aggregators, places Mangaluru at the top among the 10 safest cities in India, with a safety index score of 74.2, securing the 49th position among 393 cities worldwide.

"This is not just about statistics. It reflects the collective effort of the people of Mangaluru residents, civic bodies and the administration-who have shaped the city into a safe and peaceful environment," MP Chowta said.
