BPL card applicants wait for govt approval, struggle to get benefits

OVER 1,000 applicants for BPL cards await government's approval in Kodagu.
While thousands of unauthorised BPL cards had been cancelled following re-verification, the act of issuing new BPL cards has been delayed invariably.
The state government's suspension of BPL card application submissions has left thousands of potential beneficiaries struggling to make ends meet. Currently, 1,127 residents have submitted applications in Kodagu for BPL cards and they are pending for governmental approval. While 496 applications have been rejected for various reasons as per officials of the Food, Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs department, the other applications await approval.
