172 km of new rural roads built in Dakshina Kannada in five years

Completed roads cover Sullia, Belthangady, Puttur taluks, that have lower population density
A total of 21 rural roads covering 172 km have been completed in Dakshina Kannada under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), between 2020 and August 2025. Additionally, 11 roads with a total length of 71 km were sanctioned during this period, as per data provided in response to a query by MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta in Lok Sabha.
According to the reply, currently, two road projects covering 5.75 km remain under various stages of construction. The completed roads include those in the lower population density taluks of Sullia, Belthangady, and Puttur, indicating an effort to improve rural accessibility even in remote areas.
