SC family attacked at home, four arrested

Accused from dominant community attacked them over an argument after they dropped coconut husks at public place

FOUR persons belonging to a dominant community were arrested on Tuesday over an alleged brutal attack on five SC members at Reddiarchatram in Dindigul recently. It is learnt that the victims were attacked for allegedly dropping coconut husks on a common pathway.

The accused persons, identified as Sushila, Suresh Kumar, Karthik Kumar and Ramesh, have been booked under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

According to sources, Murugeshwari and four of her family members endured the ordeal around 11 pm on January 31. S Tirupathi, a relative of Murugeshwari, told TNIE that Murugeshwari and her family, members of SC community, are daily wage labourers of Mangarai Village in Reddiarchatram.
