Meeting with governor regarding V-C appointments soon: Bindu

HIGHER Education and Social Justice Minister R Bindu said on Tuesday that talks with the governor regarding the permanent appointment of vice-chancellors in universities will continue, though a new date for the meeting has not been set.
The previous discussion had to be halted prematurely as Bindu and Industries Minister P Rajeeve needed to attend an event related to the demise of writer-critic M K Sanoo.
Bindu expressed her support for General Education Minister V Sivankutty's proposal to eliminate the 'back-bencher' system in schools, a practice she implemented herself during her time as a teacher. She said that this approach allows teachers to engage with all students equally and said it is something that could be considered for colleges as well.
