Kozhikode Central Market Traders Asked to Vacate for Renovation

TRADERS operating at the centuries-old Central market in Kozhikode city have been directed to vacate their premises before June 10 as part of preparations for a major renovation project. The redevelopment, estimated at Rs 55.17 crore, will commence immediately after the market is cleared.

S K Abubacker, corporation councillor and convenor of the traders' committee overseeing the project, confirmed that alternative arrangements are being made to accommodate displaced traders at three separate locations.
