AHEAD of crucial local-body and assembly elections, the Kerala CPM finds itself in fresh trouble over allegations of financial irregularities involving leaders of the party.

The controversy emerged after a Chennai-based businessman alleged that a private complaint on financial wrong-doings that he submitted to the party politburo (PB) had been presented as primary evidence in a defamation case against him in the Delhi High Court.

In an email to CPM general secretary M A Baby, Sharshad B said he suspects the involvement of Shyam, the son of CPM state secretary M V Govindan, in leaking the complaint.

Sharshad had filed the complaint against Rajesh Krishna, national executive member of the Association of Indian Communists, an international wing of the CPM.
