PROTEST IS brewing in Idukki against the High Court order that stayed construction of the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway 85 from Valara to Neriyamangalam.
Youth Congress workers on Saturday laid siege to the house of environmentalist and former BJP Idukki district president M N Jayachandran at Thodupuzha, whose writ petition at HC had resulted in the court issuing a stay order for highway construction activities. The petitioner alleged that the construction work of the highway that passes through the reserve forest was initiated without securing permission from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
