AFTER a blazing start to morning trade amid reports of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, domestic equity markets turned cautious by the afternoon and gave up most of the gains by the close of the day as a likely ceasefire violation spooked investors.

Sensex and Nifty50 closed slightly above Monday's close. Sensex ended the day at 82,055, up 158 points, after hitting a peak of 83,018 during the day. Nifty closed at 25,044, up 0.3% from Monday's close. Nifty hit the high of 25,317 during the day.
