Idukki District to Launch State's First Integrated Disaster Resilience System

To install 46 landslide sensors, 48 river-level gauges, feeding live data into GIS-based platform

OVER the last 15 years, Idukki has experienced more than 600 landslides, both major and minor. The absence of real-time monitoring and an early warning system has often led to increased damage and losses. In an effort to address this, the district administration is introducing the Idukki Disaster Resilience and Information System (IDRIS), a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state that combines hazard intelligence with development planning tools to facilitate proactive governance.
