Chokramudi: Residents Pin Hopes on Special Team's Report on Check Dam

Locals Want the Illegally Constructed Structure That Poses a Risk to Lives to Be Demolished

The residents of Chokramudi have pinned their hopes on a special team formed by the district collector to take steps to demolish an illegally constructed check dam posing danger to their lives. The check dam was allegedly constructed by the land mafia by encroaching government land on the Chokramudi hills.

The district collector has formulated a team comprising sub-collector V M Jayakrishnan, Idukki soil conservation officer, district geologist, executive engineers of the public works department (building section) and local-self governments department (LSGD), to visit the spot and submit a report on how the check dam can be demolished without any danger and restore the natural flow of a stream originating from the hills.
