VATTAVADA, a quaint village nestled in the Western Ghats near Munnar, lags behind in terms of infrastructure development, especially road development, affecting the tourism prospects of the panchayat. But Vattavada was able to turn the tables around with adventure tourism, which gained popularity in Idukki over the past decade, especially through off-road jeep safaris. Unfortunately, the recent order issued by Idukki District Collector V. Vigneswari banning off-road jeep safaris over safety concerns has hit the livelihood of many involved in the profession.
